Funding Procedures (2006)
Funding requests must be postmarked on or before the respective funding area proposal deadline. Requests postmarked after March 1 or September 1 will not be considered. Hand-delivered proposals or emailed proposals must arrive in our office by 4:30 p.m. on March 1, 2006 or September 1, 2006. Address proposals to:
Edith D. Thorpe, PresidentThe Foundation accepts the Minnesota Common Grant Application Form available through the Minnesota Council on Foundations in PDF or MS Word versions. (In addition, please include attachments 1-8 as listed in Section G of the Funding Guidelines.)
Education: Programs that serve disadvantaged students in grades K-9, with a particular focus on middle school students. In addition, we support programs that serve gifted and talented youth, as well as those that promote individual character and integrity.
Arts: Support for high-quality small and medium-sized arts organizations that primarily serve the following disciplines: dance, music, theatre and literature.
Decisions regarding Education and Arts funding grants will be made at the Foundation's May meeting.
Social Services: Programs working with children and youth, the elderly, refugees, the mentally ill, and other disadvantaged populations. Also, those agencies that address child abuse, emergency needs, and transitional housing will receive priority consideration.
Capital: A limited number of capital requests in all areas of grantmaking are considered only at the November meeting.
Decisions regarding Social Services and Capital funding grants will be made at the Foundation's November meeting.
