In last year's annual report, we spoke of various transitions which lay ahead for the James R. Thorpe Foundation in 2005. They included:

• Clarification and streamlining of program guidelines to better serve the field;
• The retirement of charter trustee Leonard Addington, and, concurrently, the continued education and integration of our newer third generation family board members;
• Conversations about the establishment of a website for the Foundation

All have been accomplished. Our new board members continue to add energy, good ideas and an eagerness to participate in all aspects of the Foundation's work. Further, they were extremely helpful in helping us to go beyond just thinking about a website, to finally establishing one (www.jamesrthorpefoundation.org). We are pleased to be able to convey our story, programs guidelines, yearly updates and grantee information in this way going forward.

We also continued our peer networking during the year, with three of our board members teaching a "Philanthropy 101" session at a summer conference sponsored by the Association of Small Foundations here in Minneapolis. And several of our board members participated in meetings and panels serving the local philanthropic audience.

Our board loves what it does, and looks forward to many more years of service in the Minneapolis area.
